Modern Standard Arabic MSA
Modern Standard Arabic (MSA) is the written language of Arabic. It is developed from Classical Arabic which is the language of the Holy Quran. MSA is the contemporary written language of the Arab world and the officially spoken language of governments, diplomatic missions, radio and TV broadcasts as well as the news, schools and universities and an official language of the United Nations.
This course will enable you to read and write at an appropriate academic level, communicate with different Arabic nationalities and read news, stories, reference books and novels by famous Arab authors.
The MSA course consists of 12 levels, ranging from Beginners to Advanced.
Each MSA level is 36 hours in total and classes meet four days a week from Monday to Thursday starting at 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, for 3 weeks (36 hours / 3 weeks / 3 hour session / 12 hours a week).
Using a variety of classroom activities, this course will enable you to build up the basic skills of reading, writing, listening and speaking as well as developing language acquisition skills. Grammar is not presented explicitly at this stage, though basic grammatical points are introduced. You will be able to communicate orally and in writing in a number of survival situations such as: introducing oneself; exchanging greetings; learning Arabic names; asking about people’s nationalities; asking about familiar objects.
This level aims to enhance both understanding and production both written and spoken. We will introduce different patterns of nominal sentences; present tense verbs conjugated with single pronouns; negation of nominal and verbal sentences; and useful basic vocabulary. Texts are about personal information, surrounding environment and daily routine. you will be able to understand and use familiar everyday expressions and communicate in a simple way. You will learn: asking about personal belongings; asking about addresses; asking about dates and times; reading business cards; describing addresses and directions; talking about routine habits; asking about family members and what they do for work.
The level deals with all essential morphological rules related to verb conjunction, such as weak roots and the ten forms of Arabic verbs as well as sentence structures. It also introduces past tense with singular pronouns. All grammar and morphology presentations are contextualized in relevant situations which expand the basic lexicon. Texts of this level are about physical descriptions of people and places, education and employment. You will be able to communicate in a simple way, and will be able to exchange information in familiar matters such as: describing people and places, talking about family; expressing ownerships; reading and understanding short paragraphs; describing incidences and parties; and talking about future plans.
This level prepares the participant with essential newspaper expressions and vocabulary. This level expands on the morphological aspects of vocabulary. It will cover “Masdars”, reported statements, conjunctions and complex sentences. It completes the past tense and introduces the future tense and imperative forms of the verb. This will enable students to understand and use them in meaningful contexts. Texts of the level are short and simple. You will be able to describe in simple way aspects of your background and immediate environment; narrate past events and news; narrate and write short stories.

The intensive course is an ideal choice for you if you want to learn Arabic as quickly as possible while studying abroad. This will give you the most class time and will allow you to fit more learning into a shorter space of time if you cannot be away from your home country for too long.
As well as the increased classroom time alongside your immersive trip abroad, you will have the option to tailor your lessons with additional modules so that you can start learning vocabulary that will help you in your future, either with your career or academic studies.
Intensive courses consist of 36 hours of teaching over four weeks, which is provided as four days of class per week, each class being three hours long (36 hours/ 3 weeks/ 3 hours session/ 12 hours a week).
